Sigma Harmonics - Basic Play Guide
You might have to excuse my very horrible digital camera pics...

Kurogami Sigma is the successor to the Kurogami family, a line of "Ototsukai" Or sound-users who have sealed monsters named Ouma in the large clock in their mansion. One normal day Sigma and his partner Tsukiyumi Neon were at school, suddenly the city turned to ruins and there was no one around except for them. To return their city to normal, they commence investigation on a series of murders all the while fighting the ouma, which are released into the fields.

Play Guide

Editted 23-08-08

Basic Controls

In addition to holding it like a book and using the stylus a LOT, you can also control Sigma by pressing the directions buttons, and there are some other functions:

Down: Move along dialogue
Twice Right: Skip "Time Replay" scenes you have already watched.
Start button: Toggle map arrows on and off.

Battling

Left screen is for enemies and HP meter. Right screen is for controlling Neon.

The left screen has a navigation that shows how many enemies surround Neon, the blue area is where Neon is facing.

[Right screen]

Card Skill- There are 3 decks. During battle the green gauge will fill up, then you can slide that card to the top spot and perform that skill. Some decks have 2 options and you can switch between them by tapping the card once.
正面攻撃 - Frontal Attack
右攻撃 - Clockwise Attack, enables you to turn clockwise
左攻撃 - Anticlockwise Attack, enables you to turn anticlockwise
回復 - Heal
全周攻撃 - All-around attack
追大攻撃 - A strong attack, turning to a random enemy (?)
追弱攻撃 - A weak attack, turning to a random enemy (?)
正面強攻撃 - Frontal strong attack
後微攻撃 - Weak attack backwards
後攻撃 - Backwards attack
停止 - Damaging enemies and freezing them at the same time (the freezing may miss)

Battle Music-
Changing this will change the arrangement of skills in the Card Skill section.

Job Change-
Change jobs between card user, knight, and gunner

Main Menu

Search: Seek out clues with sound.
Equip: Set your Job and Card skills
Cards: See cards with different attributes that you can use to help your investigation, and to move through time.
Reason: Use your logical thinking to figure out the truth.
System: Configuration, dictionary, save/load, chapter status etc.

[Search]
You can tap the scenery around you to investigate it with sound.

- Get "Pieces of truth" (look for blue sparkles)
- Get "Sound records"
- Change the hour you are in (tap the large clock)
- Replay events (Tap the gold posts you see on the ground)

[Equip]

Job change to change job (that was redundant...), Battle Music to change skill set (As shown in 3 piles on the left)
On the left screen, the Music card shows the speed in which the respective gauges fill, the higher the peak, the faster the speed.

[Cards]
Cards that will help you. (I'll make a list of their abilities later or something)

[Reason]
Notes - Records what Time Replay scenes you have seen and in which hour, and what sound records you got from it.
真実への欠片 - See your pieces of truth, which are optional to find, but they give you good hints
超推理を始める - Begin reasoning
神霊を落とし物 - Things that you get by battling deities (they appear from 2nd chapter onwards, not sure what purpose they serve yet)

[System]
Save/Load - The most important part of a game
Stages - the rank you get on chapters
Words - Appendix of terms used in the game
Config - Change text speed.

[[Reasoning]]

The dark spots that appears are mystery points that you need to figure out. The number of white dots on the bigger one is the number of clues/sound records you need to place around it to solve it.
Since some points might be connected, don't place the clues on the board that will obstruct a path with the other mystery spots.
If you need to redo your reasoning you can tap 再推理.

New clues and sound records might appear during reasoning.

After you're done the reasoning, you can go to the hour and place the culprit "did it" and fight a boss Ouma there.

Also, remember that there is NO ABSOLUTE right/wrong answer to your reasoning, just close or far from the truth. If you are closer to the truth, the boss you fight afterwards is weakened, but if you are far, it will become strengthened. You also get more SP after you fight the "correct" boss.

[[SP]]
SP can upgrade your job class and become even stronger.
(You can only get SP after you fight certain boss-level ouma)

There are ways to boost your SP gain, and there are 4 rules that double your SP gain:

Double Line - Only using cards from two or fewer of the decks
Single Line - Only using cards from one of the decks
Quick Turn - Only taking five or less turns before defeating the enemy
Full Command - Using all the cards in the three decks

If you fulfill one requirement, SP gain is doubled, if two, it is 4x, and three --> 8x etc.

After you get a certain amount of SP, you upgrade your job class.

100 SP - Upgraded Card summoner
150SP - Upgraded gunner
200 SP - Upgraded knight

Cleared to chapter 3 and Updated~

I haven't seen clearly what SP does...I suppose I'll keep collecting them and see.

And 3/4 through chapter 2, damn, that god thing on the second floor is annoying...

And thank you!

Wow awesome *_* It reminds me of Persona mixed with FF XD All the Kanji in the attacks kill me ;-; Time to check on this page when I get to play XD

Does the game start with a tutorial? I've noticed recent games just put you in, and you have to explore all the menu's etc yourself =o!

Yeah, it's user-friendly, and they teach you as you go along. Though it requires more Japanese knowledge than normal RPGs, since you're solving mysteries.

This looks really useful! But unfortunately my Japanese is practically non-existant... lol this game is so complicated. I might have to wait for the English one after all. ;A;

Yes, it's a little hard to admit, if you don't have a decent grasp on the language, the reasoning will be very difficult for you. BUT it will get localized, I'm sure.
